Telecom Cost Savings - Tips & Tricks
Please review the following COST SAVING actions EVERYONE can take to manage our telecommunication expenses at [Client Name]
AUDIO CONFERENCING:
- [Client Name] preferred audio conferencing method is [insert Client’s audio conference preferred provider name] for unattended audio conferences of less than 20 attendees. For more detailed information, please go to [insert appropriate link].
- Attended conference calls (operator assisted) should only be used:
…If operator assistance is required during the conference call.

- Whenever possible, gather the attendees in conference rooms or offices to ensure you take advantage of the fewest connections possible. The fewer connections, the less it costs.
LONG DISTANCE CALLING CARDS:
- Please use your Long Distance Calling card when in a hotel. Do not use the hotel's long distance service since there are usually surcharges that make this an expensive option.
- Shield the telephone's number pad when entering access and authorization numbers (i.e., Long Distance Calling card numbers) in public places.
- Call 555-555-5555 immediately to report a lost or stolen Long Distance Calling card.
- Long Distance Calling cards should not be used for personal calls.
- If you need a Long Distance Calling card, please go to Calling Card page and complete the Calling Card Request form.
DIRECTORY ASSISTANCE:
- Directory assistance calls are not free and cost the company in excess of thousands of dollars a year. Use the free Internet phone directory search sites like Yahoo instead of calling phone directory assistance.
COMPANY TELECOM DEVICES (CELL, BLACKBERRY, ETC.)
- [Client Name] negotiated rate plans [link to internal Cellular page] must be leveraged. All new cellular accounts must be ordered through [link to Cellular or approved Vendor page] website in order to obtain the [Client Name] discounted rates.
- To set up a new Blackberry account, you must utilize the Facilities PLUS website @ Blackberry Page in order to get the [Client Name] discounted rates.
- Do not use a wireless phone for Long Distance Calling card calls, or to access audio conferences on a regular basis.
- When in a [Client Name] facility use a computer or desk phone to communicate, do not your wireless device.
- Do not use Company paid wireless devices for personal use.
IMS (Instant Messaging Service) and E-MAIL
- For internal [Client Name] communications, use the instant messaging service or E-mail instead of phone calls when appropriate and whenever possible.
